It can be easy to feel disconnected from the things that once gave life meaning. You may feel disconnected from nature, from spirituality or religion, from other people, or even from yourself. Sometimes there isn't anything obviously wrong. Yet there is still a sense that something is missing or a desire to feel connected to something bigger than yourself.
Psilocybin experiences can sometimes bring a strong sense of connection. That connection may be to nature, other people, yourself, spirituality, or something you can't easily put into words. For others, the experience may bring up questions about meaning, purpose, beliefs, or what matters most to them.
There is no expectation that a psilocybin experience will feel spiritual. You do not need to hold any particular beliefs going into it.
At Reset, we don't define spirituality for you or tell you what your experience means. Your therapist will respect your religious or spiritual beliefs, including if you don't have any. They will give you space to explore your own sense of connection, meaning, and what it means to be part of something beyond yourself.
What to Expect
Preparation: You’ll spend at least two hours preparing with your therapist before your psilocybin session. This is time to discuss where you are right now and what has led you to this experience.
You may want to explore feeling disconnected from nature, spirituality or religion. You may have questions about your beliefs or want more meaning or purpose. You may also want to feel connected to something beyond yourself. During your preparation session, you’ll also discuss what to expect during the session and how you’d like your facilitator to support you.
Administration Session: Your psilocybin session is private, with your therapist there throughout the experience. Some people have experiences they describe as spiritual, mystical, or deeply connected, while others do not. There is no expectation that your session feel a certain way. Your therapist will support you without interpreting the experience or placing their own spiritual or religious beliefs onto it.
Integration: After your session, you’ll have at least two hours of integration with your therapist. You can discuss any experiences, questions, or changes in perspective that you want to better understand. If something felt spiritual or difficult to put into words, you don't have to fit it into a particular belief system. Your therapist can help you spend time with the experience while leaving room for you to decide what it means to you.
