Addiction can affect nearly every part of a person's life, including relationships, work, physical health, and the way you see yourself. Even when you genuinely want something to change, understanding why you keep returning to a substance or behavior doesn't always make it easy to stop.
Psilocybin-assisted therapy can offer a different way to look at the patterns surrounding substance use or other addictive behaviors. You may find yourself thinking about what the behavior has provided for you, what tends to trigger it, the experiences or emotions connected to it, or what you want your relationship with it to look like in the future.
At Reset, we don't approach addiction with shame or the expectation that one psilocybin experience is going to fix everything. Your facilitator will work with you to understand what you're struggling with, what you're hoping to change, and how psilocybin fits into the other support or treatment you may already have in place.
What to Expect
Preparation: You'll spend at least two hours preparing with your facilitator before your psilocybin session. You'll talk about your history with substance use or other addictive behaviors, what you've tried before, where things stand now, and what you hope might be different. This is also time to talk honestly about cravings, triggers, relapse, medications, other treatment you're receiving, and anything your facilitator needs to understand to support you safely during the experience.
Administration Session: Your psilocybin session is private, with your facilitator there throughout the experience. You don't have to spend the session thinking about addiction or trying to figure out why you use. The experience may connect directly to the concerns you came in with, or it may go somewhere completely different. Your facilitator is there to support you through whatever the experience brings.
Integration: You'll have at least two hours of integration with your facilitator after your psilocybin session. You can talk about what happened during the experience, anything that changed in how you think about your substance use or behavior, and anything that still feels confusing. If you're considering changes in your life afterward, integration can also be a place to think realistically about what support you'll need outside of the psilocybin experience.
