Psilocybin for Grief & Loss

Psilocybin-assisted therapy

Grief can come from many kinds of loss. It may follow the death of someone you love or the end of a relationship. It can come with pregnancy loss or the loss of a child. Grief can also arise when the future you expected no longer feels possible.

There is no single way that grief looks or unfolds, and there is no timeline for when you should be ready to move forward.

Psilocybin-assisted therapy can offer a different way to explore grief. It may help you connect with emotions that are difficult to reach. It can also create space to reflect on your relationship with what or who you lost. For some people, the experience may bring up memories, connection, or a new perspective on how they carry their loss.

At Reset, grief work isn't about trying to make the loss hurt less or asking you to “let go.” Your therapist will support you in approaching the experience at your own pace. You will receive preparation beforehand and time afterward to process and integrate whatever emerges.

What to Expect

Preparation:  Before your psilocybin session, you and your therapist will spend time exploring your experience with grief. That may include your relationship with the person or loss you are carrying, and what you hope to explore through the experience. Preparation also provides space to talk about emotions, memories, or concerns that may arise. You will discuss how you want your therapist to support you if the experience becomes difficult.

Administration Session: Your psilocybin session is private and supported by your therapist throughout the experience. There is no expectation that your session unfold in a particular way or that you focus on your loss the entire time. Your therapist will allow the experience to develop naturally while providing support, reassurance, or grounding when needed.

Integration: After your session, you’ll meet with your therapist to talk about the experience. You can explore anything that came up and needs more time to process. This might include memories, emotions, or your connection to the person or loss you are grieving. It may also be something completely unexpected. Integration gives you time to make sense of the experience and consider how it connects with your grief.
