Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is psilocybin?
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain species of mushrooms. When consumed, the body converts psilocybin into psilocin, which interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain. This can lead to altered states of consciousness, enhanced introspection, emotional processing, and, for some, profound spiritual experiences. Psilocybin has been used for centuries in various cultures for healing and personal growth.
  • Is psilocybin safe?
Psilocybin is considered to have a low toxicity profile and is generally safe when used in a controlled environment with proper preparation and guidance. Research suggests that psilocybin is non-addictive and has a low risk of physical harm compared to many other substances. However, individual experiences can vary, and proper screening is essential to ensure safety.
  • Can psilocybin cause addiction?
No, psilocybin is not physically addictive and does not lead to compulsive use. In fact, studies suggest it may help reduce addiction to substances like alcohol and nicotine by promoting deep personal insight and behavioral change.
  • How does psilocybin affect the brain?
Psilocybin primarily affects the brain by interacting with serotonin receptors, particularly the 5-HT2A receptor. This leads to increased neuroplasticity, changes in brain network activity, and a temporary shift in perception and cognition. Below are some ways that psilocybin works to make change for an individual. Rewires brain connectivity – Psilocybin decreases rigid patterns of thinking by disrupting the default mode network (DMN), which is often overactive in individuals with depression, PTSD and anxiety. Increases emotional openness – Many users report a greater ability to process emotions, helping to resolve stuck patterns of sadness or fear. Reduces negative self-talk – By quieting repetitive negative thought loops, psilocybin can help break cycles of rumination and self-criticism. Promotes emotional release – Psilocybin can help individuals revisit traumatic memories in a less fearful, more objective way, allowing for deeper healing. Enhances neural flexibility – Trauma often "locks" the brain into rigid fear-based responses. Psilocybin loosens these pathways, enabling new perspectives on past events. Increases connection and safety – Many report a sense of oneness and self-compassion, which can counteract the isolation often caused by trauma. Enhances motivation for change – Users often experience profound insights about their behaviors, leading to increased willpower to change.
  • How many psilocybin sessions do I need?
The number of psilocybin sessions needed varies based on individual goals, personal history, and the depth of healing or insight desired. Some people experience significant benefits from a single session, while others choose to do multiple sessions to deepen their healing process. The ideal number of sessions depends on: Your goals – Are you seeking clarity, emotional healing, or long-term personal growth? The depth of the issues being addressed – Often those who struggle with chronic conditions or trauma see best results with several sessions spaced out over months or even years. How well your experience is integrated – Some people find that one session with proper integration is enough, while others prefer continued support through additional journeys.
  • What conditions can psilocybin-assisted therapy help with?
Research suggests that psilocybin-assisted therapy may help with a variety of difficulties, including: Depression Anxiety Obssessive-Compulsive Disorder PTSD Addiction (alcohol, nicotine, and other substances) End-of-life distress Trauma and grief Existential or spiritual crises Psilocybin is not a cure, but many individuals find that it can help them process emotions, reframe negative thought patterns, and gain insights that contribute to long-term healing.
  • How do I know if psilocybin therapy is right for me?
Psilocybin therapy may be beneficial if you are seeking deep personal healing, struggling with mental health challenges, or feeling stuck in life. However, it is not for everyone. People with a history of schizophrenia, psychosis, or certain heart conditions may not be suitable candidates. A consultation with a licensed facilitator can help determine if psilocybin therapy aligns with your needs and goals.
  • What can I expect during a psilocybin-assisted session?
A psilocybin-assisted session typically includes: Preparation – Before your session, you will have a consultation to discuss your intentions, medical history, and any concerns. You will then participate in a formal preparation session. Your facilitator will help you prepare mentally and emotionally for the experience. The Session – On the day of the session, you will come to our office and get settled into your therapy room. You'll review your intentions with your licensed facilitator and process any feelings you are having. After consuming psilocybin, you will be supported through the experience, which may include deep introspection, emotional release, and altered perception. Integration – After the session, you will meet with your facilitator to process and integrate your experience. This helps translate insights into meaningful, lasting change in your life.

Our pricing varies based on the facilitator and the specific services requested. Please note that the cost of operating in this field is substantial and expected to continue rising in the coming years. That said, we are committed to making these services as accessible as possible. Please reach out to discuss pricing options and explore what might work for you.
