Living with chronic pain or ongoing health concerns can affect much more than your physical body. It can influence your relationships, independence, confidence, and the way you think about yourself. For others, the struggle may be less about illness or pain. Instead, they want to focus on their physical health, athletic performance, or anxiety and mental barriers.
Psilocybin-assisted therapy can offer a different setting to explore your relationship with your body and physical health. Depending on what brings you to Reset, we may look at chronic pain or health concerns. We may also explore sports anxiety, endurance, performance, and motivation. We will review the mental patterns that show up when you push yourself physically.
Psilocybin isn't a cure for chronic pain or a replacement for medical care. We don't approach this work with the idea that physical symptoms are simply a matter of mindset. We take time to understand what you're experiencing and what you're hoping to get from the experience. Your therapist will also consider your physical needs, limitations, medications, and comfort throughout the process.
What to Expect
Chronic Pain & Health Concerns
Preparation: You'll spend at least two hours preparing with your therapist before your psilocybin session. You'll talk about your experience with chronic pain or health concerns, how they affect your everyday life, and what you're hoping to get from the experience. You'll also discuss your health history, medications, physical limitations, comfort needs so your therapist can support you safely. With your consent, your facilitator may coordinate with your medical provider to assess any specific medical needs or adjustments to your care that could be helpful.
Administration Session: Your psilocybin session is private, with your therapist there throughout the experience. You don't need to focus on your pain or health concerns during the session. You may notice physical sensations, emotions related to your health, or something completely unrelated. Your therapist will be there to support you and help with comfort, positioning, movement, or grounding as needed throughout the day.
Integration: After your session, you'll have at least two hours of integration with your therapist. You can discuss the experience and anything you noticed about your body, emotions, or the ways pain or health concerns have affected your life. There doesn't need to be a change in your physical symptoms for there to be something useful to talk about afterward.
Health & Performance
Preparation: You'll spend at least two hours preparing with your therapist before your psilocybin session. This may include talking about sports or performance anxiety, endurance, motivation, mental barriers, your relationship with exercise, or goals related to your physical health. You'll also talk about what you've already been working toward, where you tend to get stuck, and what you're hoping to explore through the experience.
Administration Session: Your therapist will be with you throughout your private psilocybin session. There’s nothing you need to accomplish or figure out during the experience. Thoughts, emotions, memories, or physical sensations may come up. Some may relate to your body, performance, fears, expectations, or the pressure you put on yourself. The session may also have little to do with any of those things. Your therapist will follow your experience and support you with whatever comes up.
Integration: You'll have at least two hours of integration with your therapist afterward. This is time to discuss the experience and anything you want to understand better. If you noticed something about anxiety, motivation, your relationship with your body, how you respond to pressure, or the way you approach physical challenges, you can spend time looking at that together. You may decide there's something you want to approach differently.
